What is Acupuncture?
A treatment which involves a stimulation of certain points in the body with very thin needles. These needles act as signals to the body, just as you would connect a keyboard to send signals to a computer. These needle signals produce healing by regulating body function. This branch of medicine seeks to equalize different energy relationships in the body. By doing so, the body is able to heal itself. Tests (MRI, Blood tests, etc) have indicated that acupuncture is able to alleviate pain, relax muscles, balance emotions and stimulate the immune system.
How it works
Science has determined that human beings are complex bioelectric systems. Our bodies are made up of electrical frequency's and magnetic fields right down to the cellular level. With this realization we can create an environment conducive to health with energy medicine. Energy is believed to circulate throughout the body along 14 welldefined energy pathways or meridians. Points on the skin along these pathways are energetically connected to specific organs, body functions and systems. These energy pathways can be blocked & disrupted resulting in negative health outcomes, pain and dis-ease. Through stimulation of well-defined acupuncture points the energy pathways can again be reconnected and balanced, the body's vitality is restored and the body begins to heal. regeneration is promoted, endorphins are released, pain is relieved.
What Acupuncture can do for you
The World Health Organization of the United Nations recognizes that acupuncture works well for many conditions such as acute and chronic pain, flu, asthma, hay fever acne, arthritis, TMJ, headaches, PMS and insomnia to name a few. It also provides assistance with eliminating dependence on food, nicotine, alcohol and other addictive substances by detoxifying the body. Stress reduction and emotional disturbances due to chemical imbalances are easily treated because acupuncture has a regulating effect on the hormones and chemicals such as endorphins and serotonin. Furthermore, acupuncture is one of the best forms of preventive care due to its ability to fortify the immune system and invigorate proper function of muscles, nerves, vessels, glands and organs.
Safety
Out of many millions of treatments in the west in the past two decades, very few problems have been reported. Currently, state & federal agencies have strict policies for needle sterilization. Your practitioner, Natalie Crawford, uses only pre-sterilized, disposable needles.
